Small habits. Real support.
These are the same gentle lessons we share with our own clients — simple, everyday habits from the natural-health tradition we practice. Free to every neighbor in Bowling Green.
Give your body a rest between meals
Eating three settled meals a day, without snacking in between, gives your digestive system time to fully rest and process. In our tradition, that pause between meals is where good digestion happens.
Reach for steam-distilled water
Steam-distilled water is our preferred choice for everyday hydration. Keeping it on hand is a simple daily habit that fits any wellness program.
Fresh-squeezed is best when you can
Freshly squeezed citrus is always preferred because its natural oils and freshness stay intact. A good 100% bottled juice is a fine option when fresh isn't available.
Key lime is a friendly stand-in for lemon
If you enjoy the taste of key lime, it can be used in place of your lemon water — its citrus profile is very close to lemon's. Pick the flavor you'll actually drink, and switch between them to keep it interesting.
Season with fresh herbs instead of table salt
Reaching for fresh herbs to flavor your food, rather than adding table salt, is a simple way to keep your sodium load light and let the natural taste of your meals come through.
Choose whole, unrefined foods
Refined sugar, white flour, and white bread are stripped of their natural minerals. Favoring whole, unrefined foods — whole oats, whole rye, whole wheat — helps your body get more of the nourishment it's looking for.
Enjoy a mineral-rich vegetable broth
Slowly simmering a mix of vegetables gently draws their minerals into the liquid in an easy-to-absorb form. Both the vegetables and the broth make a nourishing, comforting addition to your table.
Let variety lead your plate
A cornerstone of our approach is enjoying a wide variety of foods from across the food groups rather than leaning on the same few staples. Colorful, balanced meals are a gentle habit designed to support everyone.
Leafy greens are your everyday magnesium
In our tradition, the chlorophyll in greens is considered a primary food source of magnesium. Working leafy greens into your day is a gentle way to support your magnesium.

Good Questions
The Answers We Give Most
What happens at my first visit?
A focused one-on-one session with Dr. Jason Appling, ND — about an hour. He listens to your story first, then uses gentle, non-invasive assessments (Iridology, pH analysis, and specific muscle testing) to understand where your body actually is. You leave with a personalized natural wellness plan: what to emphasize, what to ease off, and the supplements chosen for your readings.
How much does the ANH Protocol cost?
The ANH Protocol is $125 — your complete assessment and your personalized plan. Clients travel from around the region, and sometimes around the world, for this visit.
Do I need a referral — and do you replace my doctor?
No referral needed; you can simply book. And no — we never replace your licensed medical provider. Our wellness services are designed to support the body's natural balance, and we encourage every client with an active medical condition to continue working with their doctor.
How soon will I feel a difference?
Everyone's journey is different, so we don't make promises — we measure instead. Your plan includes a retest a few weeks in, so you can see how your own readings are moving rather than wondering whether anything is happening.
What is the My ANH Protocol app?
Every protocol comes with our free client app. Your plan lives in your pocket: daily check-offs for your supplements and habits, a barcode scanner that checks foods against your plan, and answers when you have a question at 9pm. It's included with your visit.
